How to display open doors in the 2D & 3D view

In this Video-Tutorial we show you how you can display open doors in the 2D & 3 D view.

The basic workflow:

  • There are two options how we can display open doors. In the first method we create a new floor, therefore we make a right mouse click on the layer “Ground floor” – “New layer”. We enter a name for the layer and after it we press “Ok”. On this new layer we will enter the open doors. Therefore we select the “Catalogue” – “Construction elements” – “Doors”. Here we select a door – press and hold the left mouse button and the “CTRL” key at the same time and drag it into our 2D-view.
  • To position the door in the 2D view we move the cursor. When we turn the mouse wheel we can change the angle of the door. Also the tool options window appears. In the tool options window we can also change the angle and the position. To show or hide the tool options window we press the shortcut “w”. We position the door in an angle in which it looks opened and after it we press “ESC”.
  • Now we select the door – right mouse button – “Properties”. Here we define, at the point “Dimensions”, the dimensions of our door. The point “scale distorted” should be activated before we edit the dimensions. At the point “Position” we can select a position for the 3D-object. After it we press “Ok”.
  • We select the door again and in the “Selection” menu we click on the function “Move with reference point” (Shortcut “r”). We select a reference point and we move the door to its correct position.
  • The closed doors still get displayed in the 3D-view after we have entered the open doors. To change that we make a right mouse click in the 3D view – “Visibility”. We open the register “Extension elements” and we deselect the point “Doors”. Now the 3D-view gets displayed only with open doors.
  • In the second option we replace the door with an opening. Therefore we select a door – right mouse button – “Properties”. Here we click on the point “Selection” – “Opening”- and for example “Rectangle”. Now we define the “Opening Dimensions” of the opening, the “Enclosure trim” and the facing dimensions. To close the dialogue we press “OK”.
  • Now in the 3D-view only the enclosure trim gets displayed, the doors doesn’t get displayed. To transfer those properties to all the other doors we select the correct defined door – right mouse button – “Transfer properties”. Here we deselect the points “General”, “2D View”, “Opening” and we select “Object file” and “Frame-type/ -profile width / -profile depth / -Embrasure Thickness”. After it we click on “Next” and we select “Manuel targets selection” – “by target selection”. Now we tag all doors on which we want to transfer our properties and after it we press “ENTER”. Finally we click on “Finish”.
  • To edit the material of the enclosure trims, we select “3D Functions” – “Edit material”. We select the enclosure trim which we want to edit, the material editor appears and here we can define the texture, colour, reflective portions and the highlights. After it we press “OK”. To transfer the Material we select “3D Functions” – “Transfer material”. We select the enclose trim which we have already correct defined and we transfer the material to the other enclosure trims.
  • To enter the doors for the enclosure trims we switch into the 2D view – “Catalogue” – “Construction elements” – “Doors”. We place and define the doors like in the first method in the 2D-view and we adjust the dimensions of the door to the dimensions of the enclosure trims.
