In this video tutorial, we will show you the most important mouse and key combinations for zooming and navigating in the 2D and 3D view.
Below is a rough overview of the functions.
1. Zooming and navigating in the 2D view
[00:50] General overview (Show all)
- To get a general overview of your project, we recommend the
Show allfunction. - Select
View>Show allin the menu. - [00:59] Alternatively, simply press the shortcut key
Pos 1orHome. cadvilla will then automatically zoom to the closest possible position where all components are visible.
[01:53] Central zooming
- Hold down the
CTRLkey and turn theMousewheel. - This allows you to zoom in and out of the view. The floor plan is not shifted, but only zoomed centrally.
[02:25] Zooming to cursor position
- By simply turning the
Mousewheel, you zoom exactly to the position of your cursor in the project.
[03:09] Move the view horizontally
- Hold down the
SHIFTkey and turn theMousewheel. - Turning the mouse wheel downwards moves the view to the left. Turning it upwards moves it to the right.
[03:34] Move the view vertically
- Hold down the combination
CTRL+SHIFTand turn theMousewheel. - Turning upwards moves the view down. Turning downwards moves the view up.
[03:56] Move with arrow keys
- You can also easily move your view down, up, left, and right using the
Arrow Keys.
2. Zooming and navigating in the 3D view
[04:38] Show all and set rotation point
- The
Show allfunction (via the menu or thePos 1/Homekey) also works in the 3D view. - At the same time, this function sets the rotation point exactly in the center of the visible elements.
[05:08] Rotate and tilt the project
- Make sure that no object is selected.
- Hold down the
Left mouse buttonand move the mouse. This allows you to steplessly rotate and tilt the project around the rotation point.
[05:23] Central zooming
- With the combination
CTRL+Mousewheel, you zoom in and out of the view. Just like in the 2D view, the project is not shifted.
[05:46] Stepless zooming
- Hold down the
Right mouse button. - Move the mouse up or down to steplessly zoom in and out of the view.
[06:11] Zooming to cursor position
- By simply turning the
Mousewheel, you zoom exactly to the cursor. - [06:49] ATTENTION: This function can move the rotation center outside of the project. [07:10] Use the
Show allfunction to restore it (Alternatively via thePos 1/Homekey).
[07:36] Move the project vertically
- Hold down
CTRL+SHIFTand turn theMousewheel. - Turning upwards moves the project down. Turning downwards moves it up.
[08:00] Move the project horizontally
- Hold down
SHIFTand turn theMousewheel. - Turning downwards moves to the left, turning upwards moves to the right.
[08:16] Stepless shifting of the view
- Press
SHIFTand hold down theLeft mouse buttonat the same time. Now move the mouse to shift the view to any position.
[08:38] Use the control panel
- If necessary (e.g., when using a touchscreen PC or tablet without a mouse/keyboard), you can display the control panel on the screen by clicking
Show panel. - This also allows you to comfortably rotate, zoom, and move the view.
3. Optional: Short summary on zooming to cursor position
Note: The following settings are general software options and are not explicitly shown in the English video timeline.
Zooming to cursor position (Mousewheel)
- Turn the mouse wheel to zoom exactly to the position of your cursor.
- This function does not shift the floor plan. It is only used for targeted zooming.
Change zoom settings to the old variant
- You can adjust the behavior of the mouse wheel at any time. In the menu, select
Settings>General>Navigation. - Under
Zoom to cursor, you can switch between the new standard (only mouse wheel) and the old standard (CTRL+SHIFT+Mousewheel).
