How to position 3D objects (3D doors, 3D windows, window-constructions,…)

, ,

In this Video-Tutorial we show you, how you can position 3D objects like 3D doors, 3D windows and window constructions into walls made out of several wall segments.

The basic workflow:

  • If the length of a wall segment is smaller than the width of the 3D object, you cannot place it into the wall.
  • If you would like to place for example a window (“Building” – “Window” – “Window” – “Free positioning”) in a wall which is made out of several wall segments, it can happen that you can’t position the window if the width of the window is larger than the length of the wall segment.
  • To solve this problem we can delete the excess wall segments (wall segments with the same wall thickness) and trim the remaining segments. Therefore we select the excess wall segments and press “DELETE”. After it we select “Edit” – “Edit walls” – “Trim wall” (Shortcut “b”). Now we select the remaining segment and we trim it with the opposite wall.
  • Now you can place 3D Objects (if the length of the wall segment is sufficient) without problems.
  • A short summary:

Please avoid walls made out of different wall segments with the same wall thickness. The reason therefore: 3D Objects (3D doors, 3D windows, window- constructions,…) only can be insert in walls or wall segments which are longer than the width of the object (for example 3D doors, 3D windows). A object has to be smaller than the length of the wall / segment. Delete those wall segments and insert instead of different wall segments one continuing wall.
