How to move windows in walls

, ,

In this Video-Tutorial we show you, how you can move windows in walls with the 3D – architecture software cadvilla.

The basic workflow:

  • To correct, for example the wrong position of a window in a wall, we select the window with a left mouse click. The selection menu appears and we can choose between the functions “move” or “move with reference point”.

Move with reference point:

  • If we choose “move with reference point” (we can also press the shortcut “r” to select this function), we select a reference point on the window with a left mouse click. Now we can move the window on the reference point. We can drop it again with a left mouse click.

Move:

  • If we choose the function “move”, we can move the window completely free. When you select the function “move”, the tool options window appears automatically, if it’s in your way you can select it with a left mouse click and drag it to another position.
  • The blue circle in the middle of the window is the reference point, when you use the function “move”.
  • If we want to position a window between two points, we press the right mouse button – “Construction support” – “Center point” (we can also press the shortcut “m”). We select the two points in between we want to position the window.

Another function is “point with distance from” which we can also select via the “Construction support”. With this function we can position the window in a specific distance from its reference point (blue dot). To change the reference point we press “CTRL” + “W”. The shortcut for the function “point with distance from” is “a”.
