How to texturize single walls or parts of walls

,

In this Video-Tutorial we show you how you can texturize single walls and parts of walls.

The basic workflow:

  • There are different options how we can texturize walls. In the first method, which is the standard method to texturize walls, we select the “Catalogue” – “Textures” -“Materials”. We choose one of the numerous textures, select it – press and hold the left mouse button and drag it on our wall. Now every wall in the relating floor gets displayed with the selected texture.
  • To texturize only single walls, we select again the “Catalogue” – “Textures” – “Materials”. We select again the desired texture – press and hold the left mouse button and the “CTRL” key at the same time – and we drag the texture on the wall. Now only the desired wall is texturized.
  • To texturize single walls and parts of walls with the surface editor, we use for example the help of layers. We create the texturizing on an own layer for each floor. Therefore we make a right mouse click on the layer “Ground floor” – “New layer”. We enter a name for the layer and after it we press “OK”. After it we select “Construction” – “Create Surface Element” – “Insert in plane”. We select the surface in 3D for plane definition and the surface editor opens. For the thickness we enter, because we use the surface for a texture, 0,001 metres. At the point “Borders” we can define the borders of the surface. After the entry we can see the changes in the preview window. At the point “Borders” we can also select windows and doors and we can define (Borders, uniform margin, etc. …) them. After it we confirm with “OK”. In the next step we texturize the surface, therefore we select “Catalogue” – “Textures” – “Materials”. We select again a texture – press and hold the left mouse button and the “CTRL” key at the same time – and we drag the texture on the surface.
  • We can also enter a surface with a rectangle (“Construction” – “Create Surface Element” – “Insert with rectangle”). Therefore we select again a surface in the 3D-view and after it we enter the rectangle in the 3D-view on the desired surface. The surface editor opens and we can define the thickness and the borders. Of course we can also select in the surface editor a texture for the surface. Therefore we click on the field “Tiles” – “3D-View” – “Texture”. After we have selected a texture we can press “OK”.
To define a wall in a section view, for example with a wood texture, we select in the 2D-view the point “View” – “New Section-View”. We select an area for the section-view and after it the section-view appears. To eliminate the hidden lines in the section-view we press the right mouse button and we choose “Properties”. Here we click on the point “Hidden line removal” and we press “Ok”.
  • After it we select “Construction” – “Create Surface Element” – “Insert with polygon”. We select again a surface in the 3D-view for plane definition and after it we enter the polygon in the section view. After the entry we press the right mouse button – “Complete”. The surface editor opens again and we can define the thickness, the borders and the texture. After it we press “OK”.
  • Of course we can also texturize parts of walls in the section view with the help of guidelines. Therefore we enter the guidelines (“2D & Layout” – “2D Guidelines” – “Guideline”) and after it we enter the surface.
  • To define textures in the section view, we select the regarding wall – right mouse button – “Properties” – “Material” – “2D Display”. Here we can edit the fill style, colours and the texture. After it we press “OK”. For more information about the texturizing of side views we recommend the video tutorial “How to create and edit a Side View”.
