How to enter a Foundation

,

In this Video-Tutorial we show you, how you can enter a foundation.

Procedure from cadvilla version 8.x:

The basic workflow:

  • In the first step we need a new floor to create a foundation on. Therefore we make a right mouse click on the layer “Building” and select “New floor below“. We enter a name for the floor, for example foundation, and we enter a rough height. After it we click on “Transfer” and select under the point “Objects” the function “none“. After it we press “OK“.
  • If you create the foundation centered under the supporting walls we recommend using the help of centered guidelines (“2D & Layout” – “2D Guidelines” – “Guideline” – “Centered Guideline”).
  • To enter the foundation we select “Building” – “Foundation” – “Strip foundations” – “Between two points chain”. To define the foundation we press the right mouse button and select “Properties“. We adjust the dimensions of the foundation and select after it at the point “Layer construction” (“Material” – “2D Display”) a color for our strip foundation. After it we press “OK“.
  • We enter the foundation and after it we press “ESC“.
  • To add a bottom plate to our foundation we select “Building” – “Foundation” – “Bottom plate” – “Insert with Polygon/Rectangle”. To define the bottom plate we press the right mouse button and select “Properties“. Her we can adjust the dimensions and the layer construction of the bottom plate.
  • We enter the bottom plate for example with a polygon, after it we press the right mouse button and select “complete“.
  • If we have to change for example the dimensions of the bottom plate afterwards, we select it – press the right mouse button – “Properties”. In the properties we are able to change the levels or the thickness afterwards.
  • To create a section-view of our foundation we select “View” and “New Section-View“.

We select an area for the section-view and after it the section-view appears.

To eliminate the hidden lines in the section-view we press the right mouse button and select “Properties“. Here we select the point “Hidden line removal” and we press “Ok“.

We also recommend hiding the environment layer in the section view to get a better overview.
